Curtis Sliwa is returning to New York talk radio as part of a new morning show on iHeartMedia's 710 WOR, beginning Monday, March 9. "Curtis Sliwa and Larry Mendte in the Morning" will air weekdays from 6-10am, pairing Sliwa's longtime presence in New York talk radio with veteran television journalist Larry Mendte to lead the station's morning lineup.

Sliwa, founder of the Guardian Angels and a fixture in New York radio for more than three decades, said the move comes after months of encouragement from listeners following the New York City mayoral election.

"It's been four months since the end of the New York City mayoral election and most places I go people have asked me to come back to talk radio, so that's what I'm going to do," Sliwa said. "I'm going to the best radio station in New York City, joining my friends of 30 years Mark Simone and Sean Hannity."

Sliwa also noted the move represents a full-circle moment, recalling that his first radio appearance came in 1971 when he was interviewed by WOR's Arlene Francis.

Mendte, a 97-time Emmy Award-winning television anchor who joined WOR in 2023, said he looks forward to teaming up with Sliwa to start the day for New York listeners.

"Curtis is not only a legendary talk radio host, but an iconic New Yorker," Mendte said. "What an honor to get to team up with him to get New Yorkers started every weekday."

WOR Program Director Tom Cuddy said the pairing combines Sliwa's local knowledge and passion for the city with Mendte's deep journalism background.

"Curtis is a true New York original," Cuddy said. "His passion and knowledge of the city, combined with Larry's incredible journalistic background, make them the ideal team to wake up New York."

Following the new morning program, market veteran Mark Simone will continue hosting weekdays from 10am-noon as he marks his 13th year on the station. Gracie Award winner and 29-year WOR veteran Natalie Vacca will serve as executive producer of the new show.
