Rick Savage Returns to 91X as MD/Morning Host

XTRA-FM (91X) San Diego has named industry veteran Rick Savage as its new morning host and Music Director, beginning March 23.

Savage, a San Diego native who grew up in Poway listening to 91X, previously worked at the station in the early 2000s. That experience helped launch a radio career that later included roles at KROQ, Apple and the NFL, along with leadership positions within his own management and production companies.

In his new role, Savage will lead the station's morning show while also overseeing music programming for the Alternative outlet.

"Growing up in San Diego, 91X has always been more than just a radio station to me," Savage said. "It opened me up to a whole new world of music. To be a part of that history and on the same airwaves as so many of my heroes again, it's literally a dream come true."

91X Brand Manager and afternoon host Hilary Doneux said the station was eager to bring Savage back to the lineup.

"Bringing Rick home was a no-brainer," Doneux said. "He's genuine, hilarious, great on the air, and deeply plugged into the music and local culture. He's a respected programmer, a strong digital voice, just a perfect fit. We're ridiculously thrilled to have him back."
