Classic Rock U has added Saga Communications' WAFX-FM (106.9 The Fox) in Norfolk, VA, to its affiliate roster through syndication partner Skyview Networks. The weekly program, hosted by Adam Reader as the Professor of Rock, debuted on WAFX on Sunday. "Classic Rock U" features artist interviews, stories behind classic songs and Reader's perspective on the music and performers of the format.
"I've been following Adam on YouTube for a while, and I've been impressed with his passion for the music and the quality of the content he creates," said WAFX Director of Content Mike Beck. "Bringing the Professor of Rock to the Fox is an easy A."
Reader has built a following online through his Professor of Rock YouTube channel, featuring interviews with artists and stories about the songs and performers behind Classic Rock.
"Classic Rock U has some of the most passionate Classic Rock fans I've met anywhere, so it's a real honor to say we're now heard weekly on Classic Rock station, WAFX," said Reader. "I can't wait to bring the artists' personalities and never-told-before stories to this audience."
Skyview Networks Chief Operating Officer Andrew Kalb said the Norfolk addition continues the program's affiliate growth.
"WAFX has built a loyal, engaged Classic Rock audience across one of the most tight-knit radio markets in the country, and each new affiliate brings another opportunity to deliver even greater value to advertisers," Kalb said.
"Classic Rock U" is produced from WDRV-FM (97.1 The Drive) in Chicago and is offered as a four-hour weekend program for Saturday or Sunday. One-minute vignette segments are also available to affiliates Monday through Friday.
