United Stations has announced that its longstanding partnership with AccuWeather is about to go to a new level of service for radio station affiliates with AccuWeather. USRN is adding AccuWeather Plus, which will deliver a new lineup that will help subscribing radio affiliates reach more consumers in more media consumption points. Additionally, the two companies are jointly launching Weather from the Cloud, a new weather forecast option for radio with contemporary formats.
Weather from the Cloud forecasts will incorporate more lifestyle content into the reports, which will provide music radio stations with programming options that had not been available previously. Among the services now available to AccuWeather's radio subscribers are geo-specific microcasts for smart speakers or other digital uses, geo-targeted short-form podcasts with video branded to station, social media postings and weather widgets for a radio station's digital real estate.
USRN Senior VP/Content & Affiliation Stefan Jones noted that "Weather remains one of the few must-have programming elements for radio stations looking to stay connected with their local audiences. Weather is still ‘lean-in' content, and we're thrilled to be expanding the ways in which our current affiliates can engage with their audiences, and we're doubly thrilled that we have new options with which we can service formats that may not have had the right kind of broadcast produced for them in the past."
All of these announcements of programming and service expansion coincide with a multi-year extension of the partnership between United Stations and AccuWeather.
