WGN Radio Promotes Boyle to GM, Adds Bob Sirott Morning Show


WGN Radio announced today that legendary local newsman Bob Sirott has been hired as WGN's morning drive host and Mary Sandberg Boyle has been promoted to General Manager. Sandberg Boyle's position is effective immediately and Sirott's first show will be January 6.

A lifelong Chicagoan, Sirott started as a morning radio show personality in 1971. His acclaimed broadcasting career has spanned nearly five decades and has included stints at WMAQ, WBBM-FM, WLS, WGN and various television stations. In 2015, Sirott was recognized for his achievements in the media industry and inducted into the Silver Circle by the Chicago/Midwest chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

Mary Sandberg Boyle has been the station's acting General Manager since September 20. Boyle's career in media spans 19 years. A Chicagoland native, she's been with WGN Radio since 2015 and previously was Director of News and Operations.

As of Monday, January 6, WGN Radio's weekday programming schedule is as follows:

  • 4am - 5am: WGN Radio simulcast of WGN-TV Early Morning News
  • 5am - 9am: Bob Sirott
  • 9am - Noon: John Williams
  • Noon - 1pm: Wintrust Business Lunch with Ji Suk Yi
  • 1pm - 3pm: Anna Davlantes
  • 3pm - 7pm: Roe Conn
  • 7pm - 11pm: Justin Kaufmann
  • 11pm - 4am: Nick Digilio
