Cox Media Group has announced that Athens News Director and WGAU Morning Show Host Tim Bryant has been honored as a Georgia Radio Hall of Fame Career Achievement Inductee for his more than 30-year career in radio. Bryant is one of 7 radio icons to have received the honor which recognizes and celebrates individuals who have had a lasting impact on Georgia radio. The virtual ceremony was held on Friday, September 4.

Bryant, who along with the other Career Achievement nominees was voted on by the membership of the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame, currently serves as the News Director for Cox Media Group Athens' six station cluster and also works as an anchor and reporter for CMG's WSB Radio in Atlanta. Previous stops on the dial include Augusta, GA; Bainbridge, GA: and Tallahassee, Fla. Prior to this, Bryant reported for ABC, CBS, and the Associated Press, and has provided guest commentary and analysis on stations across the U.S., the U.K. and New Zealand. Tim hosts Classic City Today, 6-10 weekday mornings on 98.7FM & AM 1340 WGAU in Athens.

"The name Tim Bryant is synonymous with WGAU and Athens, as his has been a steady and trusted voice on Athens' radio station of record for a quarter of its more than 80-year history," said Kelsey Gresham, Station Director of Cox Media Group Athens. "Tim's work goes well beyond the airwaves, as he is an integral part of the fabric of the Classic City. He is extremely involved in the community, often hosting forums and debates between political candidates, covering major local events and giving back as a volunteer to various community efforts as often as he can. We are so proud and honored to have him as part of the CMG team."

"The first thing I think about are all the great people I've worked with over the years," said Bryant. "A good many of them deserve this a lot more than I do. It's a tremendous honor."

Bryant is also a former recipient of multiple GABBY awards from the Georgia Association of Broadcasters.
