Audacy launches a new show, "Hey Mayne," from its sports podcast studio 2400Sports, premiering June 23. Hosted by longtime ESPN host and American sports media personality Kenny Mayne, "Hey Mayne" will deliver a weekly podcast that blends the sports culture with entertainment, politics, music, comedy and beyond. Each week, Mayne will talk to someone he knows a little, and is fascinated by a lot. In his previous work at ESPN, a long interview was four minutes.
This show will be a chance for Mayne to go much deeper with the people he finds most interesting. Athletes, musicians, writers, and celebrities who he has encountered, who inspire him, and, in some cases, who have become good friends. As Mayne says in the trailer, "I want to ask guests not just about their work, but who they are. I want to know what people were like in Kindergarten. Because I think who you were then is basically who you are today."
Guests include former NBA player Jamal Crawford, sports journalist Jemele Hill, author Sarah Kendzior, sports commentator Chris Berman, screenwriter/director/actor/musician Christopher Guest, actor and comedian Ben Schwartz and many more.
"It's very experimental what we're trying to pull off here," said Mayne. "I will speak into a microphone, as will my guest, and someone will record what we say. Then the whole thing will be presented in a form we'll call 'a podcast.' I'll be more serious than this dutiful press release quote would suggest. At times. Also, be sure to subscribe wherever you get your podcasts. They told me that was important to say."
