W258CN (Hot 99.5) and W291CI (Power 106.1) in Jacksonville, FL are planning programming and community events to help the City move forward in the wake of the Dollar General shooting over the weekend. On Saturday, September 2 from 8-10am, Hot 99.5 FM and Power 106.1 will stop the music and open their phone lines for listeners to engage in a conversation on how to address the complex issues surrounding this tragedy. The intent is to help the community heal and avoid similar tragedies in the future.

"We feel the hurt and pain of our listeners and all of Jacksonville following the senseless shooting in our community," said Cox Media Group Director of Urban Content Elroy Smith. "We're not only offering our prayers and heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of those who lost loved ones, we're dedicated to helping Jacksonville deal with this tragedy."

Both stations will also air vignettes throughout the week honoring the victims. And they'll post to their websites ways for the community to help, including how to donate to the victims' families.

More information on Saturday's event and ways to help will be available soon by visiting the station's websites at myhot995.com and power1061.com.
