CRS Opens Noms for CRS 2024 Tom Rivers Humanitarian Award
RADIO ONLINE | Wednesday, November 15, 2023 |
Nominations are now being accepted for the CRS 2024 Tom Rivers Humanitarian Award. Nominations are due by December 15. The recipient of the award will be recognized at CRS 2024. The award is given to an individual in the Country Radio industry with a magnanimous spirit of caring and generosity in service to their local communities. This individual should be fully invested through hands-on action, demonstrating a personal commitment of time, talent and resources to community causes.
CRS Executive Director RJ Curtis commented, "This award represents the ultimate examples of how radio professionals can embed themselves in their communities and do completely unselfish work for others, with no expectation of reward or recognition. That's who Tom Rivers was and we know there are many others in radio doing similar things locally. We welcome nominations for this award so we can share their story at CRS."
This award is named in honor of CRB Board member Tom Rivers, who died in 2004 at age 38 of bronchial asthma. Rivers, known for his work at WQYK/Tampa-St. Petersburg and WUSN/Chicago, was highly regarded for his public service.
The Tom Rivers Humanitarian Award has been bestowed upon a distinguished group of individuals over the years, each recognized for their exceptional contributions to the Country Radio industry and their profound commitment to community service. Among the notable past recipients are Brent Michaels (2023), Heather Froglear (2022), Lon Helton (2020), "Dollar" Bill Lawson (2019), Dan Halyburton (2018), Peter Smyth (2017), Jeff Smulyan (2015), Mary Quaas (2011), George G.
