Former KCBS-AM/San Francisco Host Narsai David Dies
RADIO ONLINE | Monday, June 24, 2024 |
Narsai David, the esteemed food and wine editor and long-serving on-air host for KCBS-AM in San Francisco, has passed away at the age of 87. His death follows a decline in health due to a fall at his home last year, as reported by the Audacy-owned station. David's career at KCBS began in the 1980s, and he remained a fixture on the airwaves until he retired from his popular weekend show on July 4, 2022.
Prior to his tenure in radio, David was well-known in the culinary scene for his namesake restaurant in the Bay Area, which he opened in 1970. The restaurant quickly became a hotspot, attracting celebrities such as The Rolling Stones and members of the British Royal Family.
Former KCBS anchor and reporter Mike Sugerman said, "Narsai had it all. He was as comfortable mingling with the high society as he was with ordinary folks like me. We became fast friends and had great respect for each other. His cooking was something I particularly cherished."
David is survived by his wife, Venus, and son, Daniel.
