101.9 The Mix/Chicago Rolls Out Men Wear Pink Campaign
RADIO ONLINE | Wednesday, November 6, 2024 |
October in Chicago marked a significant month for breast cancer awareness, driven by WTMX-FM (101.9 The Mix). The Hubbard Radio Hot AC outlet's initiative, "The Men of the Mix," now in its fifth year, has continued to support the American Cancer Society through the Men Wear Pink campaign, raising substantial funds and awareness for the fight against breast cancer.
Led by morning host Chris Petlak, the team participated in a series of community events, including live shows at local Chick-fil-A outlets in Niles and Chicago, where the first 100 donors received a complimentary lunch. This effort was supported by Chick-fil-A Chicagoland, a key corporate sponsor, which played a significant role in the campaign's local activities.
Adding to their fundraising efforts, The Men of the Mix hosted their second annual comedy night at Zanies in Rosemont. The event, which sold out quickly, featured a blend of stand-up comedy and performances from the station's morning and afternoon Mix segments, as well as a special performance by musician Andy Grammer, adding a notable highlight to the evening.
The campaign proved to be a resounding success, with The Men of The Mix raising $440,543 for the American Cancer Society of Greater Chicagoland. This total placed the team third in the nationwide campaigns, demonstrating the strong community support and the effective mobilization by the station.
Chris Petlak expressed his gratitude, noting the significant impact made possible by the station's audience and partners: "This year, The Mix audience helped us make a major impact in the fight against breast cancer for researchers, doctors, families, and most importantly - those fighting this horrible disease. I'm so grateful to Whip and McCabe - The Men of The Mix - and our partners in Chick-fil-A Chicagoland and Zanies Rosemont for their support."
101.9 The Mix Vice President of Brand and Content Jimmy Steal also commended the efforts: "I'm so proud that Chris has again co-chaired the Men Wear Pink campaign. Together with Morning Mix news personality Whip, and McCabe, co-host of The Afternoon Mix, they have been instrumental in raising money for this worthy cause."
