CMG/Atlanta Appoints David Abel as VP & Market Manager

Cox Media Group (CMG) appoints David Abel as the new Vice President & Market Manager for CMG Atlanta Radio, effective February 17. His radio career began in New Orleans, followed by an 11-year tenure in leadership roles at Cox Radio's stations in Birmingham, Orlando and Greenville. He later served as the VP/GM at Apex Broadcasting and as COO before returning to CMG. Most recently, Abel was VP & Market Manager for CMG in San Antonio.

Rob Babin, CMG's EVP of Radio, expressed enthusiasm about Abel's promotion from within the company. "David's deep industry experience and commitment to excellence are pivotal as we strive to reach new milestones and continue our mission of serving our audiences, clients, and employees," said Babin.

Throughout his career, Abel has been actively involved in community initiatives and industry boards, such as the Texas Association of Broadcasters and the San Antonio Sports Association. His efforts were recognized in 2024 when he received the Breakie Legacy Award from the Texas YES Project for his contributions to educational equality.

Reflecting on his appointment, Abel stated, "It's an honor to lead CMG Atlanta Radio. I am eager to continue building on our successes and further engage with the vibrant Atlanta community."
