Sad to report that David "Ace" Cannon, former co-host of the syndicated "Ace & TJ Show," has died. He was 56. His sister, Piper Wilson, announced the news via her Facebook page, stating, "I have suffered a great loss today." The cause of death has not been disclosed.

Cannon was a pivotal figure on Charlotte's morning radio with Ritchie "TJ" Beams for over three decades. The duo began their journey in 1993 in Alexandria, LA and after several moves, they became a staple on Charlotte's airwaves in 1998, known for their blend of humor and daring radio stunts.

The news of Cannon's death follows his unexpected departure from the show in September 2024, which marked a significant change as the show continued under the new title "The TJ & Riggins Show." In an emotional video posted on Instagram in October, Cannon shared insights into his personal struggles, including his separation from his wife, Amanda, and the ongoing divorce process. He expressed a desire to take time for personal healing and requested privacy and kindness for his family during the transitional period.

Cannon's contributions extended beyond entertainment. He was instrumental in founding "Ace & TJ's Grin Kids," a charity providing trips to Disney World for terminally ill and disabled children. This initiative reflected his commitment to community service, paralleled by his musical efforts with the band Charity Case, which also supported the charity.

His impact was felt deeply within the community, as reflected by the heartfelt messages from Hits 96.1, the former home of "The Ace & TJ Show," and his current and former colleagues who shared their condolences and memories of Cannon.

Cannon is survived by his wife Amanda, their son Dax, his sister Piper, his first wife Shonnette, and their son Cade.

The "TJ & Riggins Show" has set up a memorial web page for listeners to post comments and photos.
