''Highway Rock'' Arrives in Las Vegas on KHYZ-HD3

Southern California's hard-rock station, previously known as "The Drive," has undergone a significant rebranding and expansion, now reaching into Las Vegas with a new identity as "Highway Rock." The station, broadcasting on KHYZ-HD3 (99.7), has embraced a refreshed name that more vividly encapsulates its sound.

"It is what it says," said Gonzo Greg Spillane, Vice President of Rock at Highway Radio. With a rich history at Pure Rock KNAC Long Beach/Los Angeles, Spillane is driving the station's format towards a potent mix of classic and contemporary heavy rock. "We're cranking it up to eleven, revisiting the raw, electrifying energy of the late-era hair metal while integrating modern rock that fits our fierce vibe."

Spillane's vision for Highway Rock is clear: to invigorate rock radio in Las Vegas with a lineup that includes legends like Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, AC/DC, Van Halen and Aerosmith, and delves deeper with tracks from Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motorhead and Accept. "Rock radio in Las Vegas needs a serious kick in the ass," he commented, highlighting the station's commitment to a hard-hitting rock experience.

The connection to Las Vegas is further symbolized by the city's evolution into a hotspot for rock legends, with residencies from Motley Crue, Sammy Hagar, Scorpions and Def Leppard. "We used to joke about our metal gods playing Vegas. Now, we're the go-to station for those who ditch bingo for devil horns," Spillane added, emphasizing the station's alignment with the city's vibrant rock scene.

Highway Rock ensures a seamless rock journey for travelers from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, with a network of transmitters spanning from Victorville to Vegas, including KHDR-FM (96.9) in Barstow and KHRQ-FM (94.9) in Baker, enhancing the drive with non-stop metal anthems.

The station also features veteran personalities such as Rich Van Slyck, Mel Rox, and Charlie Kendall, complemented by programs like Metalshop, LA Lloyd's Rock 30, and Full Metal Jackie, which air on Sunday nights. This dynamic team delivers not just music but news and personality-driven content that keeps listeners engaged around the clock.

Listeners worldwide can tune into Highway Rock at highwayrock.fm or through the TuneIn app, making it accessible beyond the static limits of radio waves.
