Edison Research launches Edison Download Metrics. This new service, developed in partnership with SoundStack, aims to provide precise podcast download analytics, catering to publishers of varying scales. Melissa Kiesche, Senior Vice President at Edison Research, stated, "We see this as the next step in Edison Research's efforts to provide data to the podcasting industry worldwide that helps bring more advertising dollars into the space."

Kiesche highlighted the service's capacity to deliver deeper insights, particularly benefiting smaller and short-run shows. Edison Research's existing service conducts an annual survey of 20,000 podcast listeners, offering a comprehensive view of U.S. podcast consumption, but the new service will enhance this with detailed download data powered by SoundStack's technology.

Edison Download Metrics differentiates itself by offering opt-in, IAB v2.2-compliant download data, ensuring publishers receive trusted, industry-standard measurements. This service complements Edison Podcast Metrics, which provides broader insights into weekly podcast reach and listener habits in the U.S. and UK.

Rockie Thomas, Chief Strategy Officer at SoundStack, also commented on the collaboration, "We are excited to bring the technical infrastructure and data that allows Edison to deliver an independent, third-party measurement solution to help the podcasting industry grow." SoundStack is recognized as a certified IAB v2.2 vendor, underscoring its commitment to reliable data standards.

The service is not only accessible to large networks but also tailored to meet the needs of independent podcasters, offering scalable solutions across the industry. Subscribers can look forward to multiple benefits, including verified download metrics and the ability to integrate these findings with Edison's extensive survey data for more nuanced audience profiles and advertising insights.
