''Terrestrials'' Expands to Ongoing, Twice-Monthly Podcast

WNYC's Terrestrials is shifting to an ongoing twice-monthly cadence, with new family-friendly science episodes dropping every other Thursday on the Radiolab for Kids feed beginning today. Hosted by Radiolab's Lulu Miller, Terrestrials tells true stories about extraordinary earthly creatures through original music, humor and science.

The new schedule launches with an episode spotlighting beavers and their outsized ecological impact, part of a slate focused on how nature can inform human solutions.

"Over the last three seasons of Terrestrials, we've been so moved by the response from families and educators -- especially the requests for a more consistent, ongoing presence of the shows," said Emily Botein, Vice President, WNYC Studios. "As the environment for fact-based, educational kids' media continues to shift with the elimination of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, and 'brainrot' continues to proliferate, WNYC is committed to providing parents and kids more regular access to enlightening screen-free content."

"I have been privately obsessed with the concept of biomimicry -- looking to nature to solve problems," said host and creator Lulu Miller. "This fall, we are showcasing some of nature's finest models -- from beavers that engineer entire ecosystems back to health and olive trees that share scarce water with their neighbors, to baby flies with medical healing powers. The Terrestrials feed will be full of the joy and musical magic (thanks to 'songbud' Alan Goffinski) our audience has come to expect, with a little extra ingredient for these dizzying times -- hope."

WNYC says the biweekly cadence is part of a broader effort to deepen audience connection and expand educational programming. Following live Terrestrials tapings this summer at Little Island in New York City, the initiative will include additional in-person events, with details to be announced.

Terrestrials is available wherever podcasts are heard, with new episodes premiering on the Radiolab for Kids feed every other Thursday.
