After more than 15 years with Salem Media Group San Antonio, longtime Program Director Barry Besse has exited KLUP (930 AM The Answer) as part of company-wide layoffs. Besse confirmed his departure in a social media post, writing that after 17 years with Salem overall, he was included in what he described as a "massive company-wide reduction in workforce."
"Over the years, Salem has tried its best not to have a reduction in workforce, but like most corporations, it had to happen," Besse said. "I'm not bitter or angry. I understand how this business works. I was proud of the work I did for Salem Media Group and even prouder to have worked with the people I did."
In addition to overseeing 930 AM The Answer, Besse also served as Program Director and previously as morning host for KSLR (AM 630 The Word), the company's Christian teaching and talk station.
His departure marks the end of a long tenure with Salem's San Antonio cluster during a period of ongoing restructuring across the company.
