iHeartPodcasts and SNAFU Media have announced "Here We Go Again," a new original podcast hosted by actor, writer, and producer Kal Penn, premiering October 21. The series will connect today's biggest headlines with historical parallels, blending humor, insight, and optimism in a weekly format.
Produced by SNAFU Media - a collaboration between Ed Helms' Pacific Electric Picture Company and FilmNation Entertainment, in association with Kelly and Kelly - the podcast marks Penn's debut as a host and executive producer. Each episode will explore recurring themes in society by pairing modern news with moments from the past, featuring expert guests to discuss what history can teach us about current issues.
Topics will include the new space race, secession movements, infrastructure failures, policing fashion, and movie remakes, among others. The show's guest list includes Bill Nye, Ed Helms, Michael Lewis, Stacey Abrams, Pete Buttigieg, Lilly Singh, Jana Schmieding, Jon Favreau, Karina Longworth, and Alok Vaid Menon.
Penn said his goal is to merge humor and context to make sense of a chaotic world: "From serious things like financial collapse to small frustrations like why there's never a gate agent ready when your plane lands, I wanted to create calm, uplifting conversations with people who understand things best."
iHeartPodcasts President Will Pearson called Penn "a natural storyteller" whose curiosity and authenticity make history "personal and relevant." Helms added, "Kal is authentic, hilarious, and frighteningly well-informed - the perfect fit for SNAFU Media's mission to tackle today's chaos with smart, fun storytelling."
Here We Go Again with Kal Penn premieres October 21 on the iHeartRadio app and all major podcast platforms.
