Geo Global says its MaxxCasting and ZoneCasting technologies have been validated following an independent study conducted by India's public broadcaster, Prasar Bharati.
The testing, carried out by Prasar Bharati's Research Department at All India Radio's FM facility in Bengaluru, found the technologies improved coverage and enabled seamless listening across a Single Frequency Network (SFN). The study involved field measurements using standard receivers, with engineers conducting tests both on foot and in vehicles across multiple coverage areas.
According to the report, synchronized booster transmitters expanded signal reach and allowed smooth transitions between primary and booster signals, even in dense urban environments and areas with difficult terrain. In MaxxCasting mode, listeners experienced no noticeable disruption in audio quality when moving between coverage zones.
The study also evaluated Geo Global's ZoneCasting capabilities, which allow for geographically targeted content delivery. Engineers found that transitions between different content zones were minimal, with the report noting a transition distance of approximately 15 meters and no significant degradation in audio quality.
Field data included measurements across multiple radial routes from the transmitter, confirming consistent reception quality and improved field strength when booster transmitters were deployed. In some cases, coverage was extended by roughly 10 kilometers beyond the primary signal range.
The report concluded that Geo Global's performance claims were "fully substantiated," citing enhanced coverage, reliable signal synchronization and seamless listener experience throughout the tested regions.
Geo Global Managing Partner Dev Viswanath said the results position the company for broader deployment, including potential rollout across hundreds of government and commercial radio stations in India. CEO Chris Devine added that the findings reflect the company's technical development efforts and support from its investment partners.
