New York Public Radio (NYPR) has named Kimberly Watson Chief Development Officer, overseeing the organization's development and membership operations. Watson brings more than three decades of fundraising and leadership experience with major arts and cultural institutions.

In her new role, Watson will lead efforts to increase philanthropic support through individual, corporate and institutional giving, while developing strategies to expand membership and strengthen relationships with existing donors.

"We're excited to welcome Kim to New York Public Radio," said LaFontaine E. Oliver, interim President and Executive Chair. "Over three decades, Kim has helped some of the country's most respected cultural institutions secure transformative gifts, grow their donor bases, and build sustainable and enduring fundraising operations."

Watson joins NYPR after serving as a strategic advisor to nonprofit organizations, specializing in arts and cultural institutions. Her work has included securing major gifts and corporate sponsorships, strengthening fundraising operations, supporting governing boards and directing capital campaigns.

Previously, Watson held development leadership positions at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and High Museum of Art.

"I'm looking forward to working with the team as NYPR continues to grow its impact," Watson said. "I've always believed in the power of arts and culture, and in the role journalism and storytelling play in helping us understand the world and one another. I can't think of a more important mission than making these stories and perspectives accessible to everyone."
