CPR News and KRCC Announce New Midday Radio Schedule

Colorado Public Radio
Colorado Public Radio

Colorado Public Radio makes changes to its weekday broadcast schedule for CPR News and KRCC/Colorado Springs. Following New York public radio WNYC's decision to end its syndicated program "The Takeaway" in June, listeners will now hear "On Point," "Today, Explained" and "BBC Newshour" in middays, starting May 22.

"When WNYC announced 'The Takeaway' would end, we took the opportunity to look at our daytime schedule holistically," said CPR News Program Director Gillian Coldsnow. "We found opportunities to bring our audiences more world news, more local news and new national programs."

At 10am, listeners will hear "On Point" from WBUR. "Here & Now" will start an hour earlier and go until 12:30pm, when another new show, Vox's "Today, Explained," will air for the second half of the hour. At 1pm, "BBC Newshour" will air, except on Fridays, which will continue to have "Science Friday." "Fresh Air" stays in its 2pm spot, but "Marketplace" will now air live at 3pm, followed by "The Daily" at 3:30pm Monday through Thursday and "Real Talk with Denver7 and CPR News" on Fridays.
