J.B. Miller Out at WXBW-FM/Huntington WV After 13 Years
RADIO ONLINE | Tuesday, October 8, 2024 |
Longtime morning host J.B. Miller is out at WXBW-FM (101.5 Big Buck Country) in Huntington, WV, after 13 years with the Classic Country station. Miller spent 39 years in radio beginning in 1977. He began his career in radio in 1977 at WGNT in Huntington as a parttime air talent.
In an interview with the Ironton Tribune, Miller said he was let go while on vacation in Tennessee. He explained that the WXBW Program Director called to inform him that his services were "no longer needed."
"I gave you 13 years of punctuality and good radio, and then to be told over the phone during my vacation -- I don't think it's very professional," said Miller.
Station owner Mike Kirtner told the Ironton Tribune that he is now overseeing the morning show. "The show will include more in-studio guests and live interaction with the audience," Kirtner said. "Teresa Lawrence, known as 'T,' has been promoted to lead the show after co-hosting for several years." He also mentioned that the station was previously limited in booking guests due to "scheduling conflicts with the former talent."
"I'm proud of the last 13 years," said Miller. "Most of the people I worked with were great, and that's just the nature of the business. But I don't think it should have ended like that."
