It's official. After stunting for three days, Cumulus flips KDBN-FM (Quality Rock 93.3)/Dallas to mainstream CHR as "I93" adopting heritage market calls KLIF-FM. John Foxx joins from KKMG-FM/Colorado Springs as PD. The switch comes only four months in an AAA format. KDBN dropped its longtime Classic Rock format as "93.3 The Bone" last April for Adult Alternative.
"i93 is a result of extensive research to provide a reflection of the DFW market area. It has been carefully crafted to offer a wide variety of contemporary hit music from the pop, rhythm, and alternative musical genres," said Senior VP/Programming Jan Jeffries. "Appealing to a balanced demographic group of 18-34 year old listeners, i93 is designed to attract an active lifestyle, mobile listener who prefers the very best music from top musical artists."
"i93 has been designed to provide our Dallas listeners with the hits of contemporary artists of today," added GM Dan Bennett. "The station's slogan says it all -- 'Today's Hit Music i93' -- and we expect it to appeal to a young adult listener."
The new web site can be found at i93hits.com. So far this year, Cumulus has launched CHR formats in Nashville as "i106hits" and Indianapolis as "i94."
