Howard Stern says he's in ongoing contract negotiations with SiriusXM and hinted that any new deal could involve some level of "ownership" in the company. The veteran broadcaster made the comments during an interview with fellow SiriusXM host Andy Cohen, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
Stern, who joined Sirius in 2006, reflected on his role in helping the platform grow from a niche service to a major media company. "If I do end up staying with this company, I'm going to take ownership of that," he said, noting his pride in SiriusXM's evolution into a broad platform featuring diverse voices and formats.
When asked about his show's archives, Stern said he owns the material but declined to share details of the ongoing talks. His current five-year contract, reportedly worth around $100 million annually, expires at the end of 2025. SiriusXM CEO Jennifer Witz recently told THR she believes both sides will "get to the right place."
Stern also dismissed rumors that he had been taken off the air for being "too woke," calling the claim absurd. Now 71, the radio icon said his show continues to evolve with his age and experience, adding that the days of simply "breaking taboos" are long behind him.
