Max Media's WGH-AM (ESPN Radio 1310)/Norfolk, Virginia's first all-sports radio station, is moving to the FM dial. Urban AC WXEZ-FM (Star 94.1) will become "ESPN Radio 94.1 FM," effective October 5. Additionally, WGH will become "Star 1310 AM" at the same time. WXEZ has a 40kw signal heard from Virginia Beach to Richmond, and from the Eastern Shore to many parts of northeast North Carolina.
"This was a great opportunity for us to have the most powerful ESPN FM station in Virginia," Max Media Radio President Eric Mastel said. "We're proud of our new multi-year agreement that will keep ESPN Radio with Max Media through 2012."
ESPN Radio Senior VP/Affiliate Sales Sean Breen said, "We are extremely pleased to continue our long-term partnership with Max Media and upgrade our position in the marketplace to 94.1 on FM band. Max Media's passion to serve the sports fan on the local and national level mirrors ESPN's company-wide vision."
Star 1310 AM will continue to be home of James Madison University sports and Norfolk Admirals hockey, and feature contemporary inspirational programming with syndicated Yolanda Adams in mornings.
