AC WTLT-FM/Fort Myers flips to Alternative as "New Rock 93X" with new call letters WXNX-FM. The move follows crosstown Active Rock WJBX-FM (99X) switch to Talk earlier this week. In an effort to "keep the X brand of music alive," 93X says it will feature Mainstream and Alternative Rock artists such as Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots and Green Day.
"This incredibly loyal audience was outraged to lose their brand of music to a talk radio station," said Sun Broadcasting VP Jim Schwartzel. "We were pleased to offer the X brand a home on 93.7 and will serve the audience with 24/7 Rock, and create a number of ways for listeners to interact with the station from social media and live events to contests."
