Stephanie Witte will become NPR's Chief Development Officer, effective January 23. She currently serves as Assistant Vice Chancellor of Development for Health Sciences at UCLA. Witte's career includes leading fundraising roles at major universities and complex medical institutions, where she has overseen teams responsible for multi-million dollar fundraising campaigns and the cultivation and stewardship of major gifts from individuals, foundations, and corporations.
As NPR's Chief Development Officer, Witte will work in partnership with NPR's Development team, Foundation Trustees, and leaders at Member stations, to build collaborative fundraising capacities and help NPR secure transformational gifts for public radio, both nationally and locally.
"Stephanie brings a rare combination of skills and experiences that include proven success working on large-scale fundraising efforts, intellect and creativity, leadership skills, a dynamic style, and an incredibly deep and personal love of public radio. She will be a guide and champion for the Development team and their continued success," said NPR President/CEO Jarl Mohn. "The NPR team works tirelessly with leaders at Member stations to connect donors to local and national causes about which they care, to nurture and deepen relationships with major foundations and supporters of public radio, and to build a solid and long-term foundation of support for the industry."
"I have had the great pleasure of working with incredible scientists and academics along my career to advance critical and innovative medical research, but the opportunity to join the NPR team is more than a dream job; for me, it is a tremendous honor and personal calling," added Witte. "NPR is one of the great gifts to American society, an institution that educates and empowers us, a cultural docent, and a force that pushes us to think beyond ourselves. I am ecstatic to join this institution and contribute to all that is NPR."
