Saga's Cayuga Radio Group will launch "Pure Oldies' in Ithaca, NY, on Wednesday, February 1. The station will air on WNYY-AM at 1470 AM (which is the same dial position that legendary the Ithaca station broadcast Oldies on WTKO in the 1970s). In addition the station will air on a metro signal in stereo at 94.1 FM and on WQNY-HD2.
"We are really excited to bring this format back to the region" said Operations Manager Chris Allinger. "These are songs that are truly loved by listeners... so many of them have called asking 'when is it starting?'"
Cayuga Radio Group President/GM added, "Pure Oldies will be a fun format for our region. It represents some of the best music ever recorded at an amazing time in America. The British Invasion, Motown, and great crooners like Sinatra, along with the stars like Elvis that become the most popular stars in America through the power of radio and the early years of TV."
Pure Oldies will focus on the years of 1955- 1968, covering the best music from Elvis, The Beatles, Aretha Franklin, Frank Sinatra, Jackie Wilson, The Supremes and other premier musical artists of the era.
