The Baltimore Orioles have announced its radio broadcast team for 2019 led by 23-year play-by-play announcer Jim Hunter based at Sports WJZ-FM (105.7 The Fan)/Baltimore. He succeeds Joe Angel, who retired after nearly two decades in the broadcast booth. Hunter has previously handled both radio and TV coverage for the team. For the last two seasons, he served as Angel's partner on the Orioles Radio Network.
Hunter will be joined by former Orioles Mike Bordick, Ben McDonald, Brian Roberts, Dave Johnson and Gregg Olson as radio analysts. Also joining the team is ESPN play-by-play announcer and former minor league Syracuse Chiefs radio voice Kevin Brown, who will handle about 50 games this season. He joins Hunter on Orioles broadcasts.
"Joe's voice has filled the homes of Orioles fans for many years, and his smooth delivery, signature calls, and witty humor will be missed," said Orioles VP/Communications and Marketing Greg Bader. "Joe will be impossible to replace, but we are confident Orioles fans will receive superb game action and news across all Orioles and MASN platforms. Whether tuning in on television, radio, or following along via digital platforms, our talent will be seen everywhere, and fans will receive top-notch insight into all things Orioles."
