In a significant development for local journalism in Southern California, KPCC-FM (LAist)/Los Angeles and CBS/Los Angeles announced a new partnership today, aiming to enhance news coverage across Los Angeles and Orange County through shared resources and content.
Under the terms of the agreement, LAist will gain access to live audio feeds from CBS Los Angeles's television newscasts on KCAL-TV and KCBS TV, as well as its online live streams and covered press conferences. This collaboration is set to broaden LAist's reporting reach, allowing it to cover more ground in providing essential news to the community.
LAist Vice President of Programming Jeff Rowe emphasized the strategic nature of the partnership. "Teaming up with CBS Los Angeles allows us to tap into their extensive daily local news programming. This is an ideal match that promises to significantly enhance our news coverage capabilities," Rowe stated.
On the flip side, CBS Los Angeles will benefit from the inclusion of LAist reporters as expert guests on its platforms, enriching the diversity of voices and perspectives offered to viewers. CBS Los Angeles News Director Matt Goldberg highlighted the collaborative potential. "This partnership enables us to combine our strengths and deliver comprehensive and impactful local news coverage. We are excited to work alongside LAist and deepen our commitment to the communities we serve," said Goldberg.
Both media outlets will also have the ability to republish content across their respective digital platforms, further amplifying the reach of their reporting.
This partnership marks the latest expansion in LAist's portfolio, which recently included the launch of new entertainment and trivia-based programming, enhancing its cultural footprint in the region.
