KYW Newsradio Philadelphia Marks 60 Years of Broadcasting

KYW Newsradio, a staple in Philadelphia, celebrates its 60th anniversary this year with a series of special events and programming aimed at honoring its long-standing commitment to the community. Known for its coverage and dedication to local news, KYW Newsradio will introduce new features and community-driven content throughout 2025.

Starting in January, listeners will notice new 60th anniversary branding across the station, including updated on-air liners and fresh studio signage. The festivities will continue in February when the station invites its audience to send "love notes" to Philadelphia via the Audacy app's voicemail feature, with selected messages to be broadcast on air.

In March, the celebration will feature "60 Voices," a special segment highlighting influential figures from across the Delaware Valley -- from community organizers to celebrities -- each sharing personal reflections on their connection to the area.

David Yadgaroff, Senior Vice President and Market Manager for Audacy Philadelphia, expressed his enthusiasm for the milestone. "Local radio plays a crucial role in our community, and I'm proud of our deep roots in this region," he said. "Since joining KYW as an account executive in 1992, my admiration for the team's dedication and the impact we've made has only deepened. This year is a tribute to everyone who has contributed to our mission of delivering factual, reliable reporting."

KYW Newsradio has been a pioneer of the all-news radio format since its inception in September 1965. Over the past six decades, the station has delivered over 500,000 hours of news coverage, provided more than 3,000,000 traffic and weather updates, and been at the forefront of local events including numerous Mummers Parades, 15 mayoral races, two World Series celebrations, and the Eagles' Super Bowl parade.
