iBiquity Digital, developer of HD Radio, announced Wednesday that it has licensed more than 140 companies to develop HD Radio receiver components and products. This number was reached this week after the company granted HD Radio licenses to A-MAX Technology, EnGIS Technologies and Harbor Light Technology. In addition, iBiquity announced that 23 factories offer HD Radio product production capabilities, up from eight in 2006, and three in 2005.
"These partners represent all the necessary facets of radio product development," said iBiquity COO Jeff Jury. "Together they reflect the global commitment to developing a growing range of HD Radio consumer electronics products."
"This rapid build out of the manufacturing capability for HD Radio devices reflects the growing range of products coming to market now and in the future," Jury added. "iBiquity is very pleased with the wide expansion of our family of partners around the globe. This is enabling a broad range of new products in many different form factors to come to market across multiple price points. It creates a complete system of partners for the rapidly growing market for HD Radio products."
