The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) has released updated Broadcast Station Self-Inspection Guides for AM, FM and television stations, providing broadcasters with practical resources to help ensure compliance with FCC rules and policies.
Developed in partnership with the Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE), the new guides offer standardized, up-to-date guidance for stations conducting their own inspections. They are also designed for use by contract inspectors participating in the Alternative Broadcast Inspection Program, which is administered by most state broadcasters associations.
The release fills a long-standing gap left by the FCC, which published self-inspection checklists until 2003 but has not updated them despite numerous changes to its rules and policies over the past two decades.
The updated guides are available as a free member benefit for both NAB and SBE members and can be downloaded through the NAB member portal or directly from SBE.
