Radio One Urban WKYS-FM Washington, DC, hires Khalia Canty (aka Little Bacon Bear) as its new night host from from 7-midnight weekdays and 6-10pm on weekends. Originally hailing from Topeka, KS, Canty began her career after moving to Maryland, 2012. Since then, she's become one of the DMV's most sought-after young DJs, having spun for brands like Essence and BET.

Little Bacon Bear said, "I'm really excited to be a breath of fresh air to not only the radio but to the entire DMV. There's so much talent in the city and this is just the platform to shine some light on that. I can't wait to tell the stories of everyday people. I can't wait to bring listeners more of the best content from the artists they love. I can't wait to turn up with them every night."

WKYS Program Director J1 added, "I wanted to step out of the box and do something different with the night position at WKYS. I wanted someone who could relate to millennials and make radio appealing to them. From the first time I met Bacon Bear I knew there was something special about her. She possesses some critical skills that aren't easily taught like passion, creativity, humor, charisma, hard work and heart. Bacon Bear represents the next generation of radio and the future of our industry."
