KERA-FM/Dallas taps Andrew Garcia to join the Public Radio outlet as Morning Edition Host from 5:30-10am, beginning May 13. In this role, he'll help North Texans start their day by highlighting the most important stories from NPR and KERA News. Garcia grew up in California's Central Valley and went on to serve as a volunteer and professional advisor for KSSU, the student-run station of California State University-Sacramento. Most recently, Garcia served as the midday anchor for Cap Radio in Sacramento.
"I am so excited to join the KERA team," said Garcia. "Joining the listeners of North Texas on their morning commutes is a real honor. I hope to be your friendly, trustworthy guide through the news of the day in our nation, our world and North Texas."
"We're very excited to welcome Andrew," added KERA News Program Director Jeff Penfield. "He has a true passion for public radio and its essential services. I think North Texans are going to hear and feel that every morning."
Garcia joins an experienced team of radio professionals, including Senior Editor & host Sam Baker; midday host & Technical Director Bella Syrus; morning producer & podcast host Katherine Hobbs; All Things Considered host & board operator Justin Martin; and afternoon newscaster & producer Rebekah Morr.
