Portland Trail Blazers Radio Network host Mike Lynch wrote in a post on X that he's been diagnosed with ALS. Lynch, 34, who joined the network in 2022, was told he had the disease on January 2. Lynch has now confirmed that he will not return to radio. Prior to joining the Trail Blazers network, Lynch spent 11 years with KFXX-AM (1080 The Fan) in Portland, OR.

"Hi everyone, I know it's been a long time, but sadly I am returning with bad news," Lynch wrote on X. "A few months ago, I was diagnosed with ALS. If you are willing and able, I have a GoFundMe."

After joining Portland Trail Blazers as its radio network host, he had the opportunity to complete the 2022-2023 season. Unfortunately, Lynch noticed a big change in his ability to project his voice at the start of pre-season in October, 2023. He was unable to pronounce words clearly on a consistent basis and was having a hard time walking around the court. He then took a leave of absence in November before the ALS diagnosis in January.
