Curtis Media Group's Adult Hits WBBB (96.1 BBB)/Raleigh is saying goodbye to a local favorite as midday host Kitty Kinnin retires following her show today, wrapping up a remarkable 40-year broadcasting career.

Kinnin joined WBBB in 2015, where she has hosted both afternoons and middays. A native of Miami, she began her career while in college in Gainesville before landing her first radio job at WKZL Greensboro. She arrived in Raleigh in 1985 for a 13-year run in middays at Rock 106.1 WRDU, helping cement her voice as one of the most familiar in Triangle radio.

Over the years, Kinnin also held roles at 93.9 WZZU, 107.1 WFXC, 90.7 WNCU, and as morning host at Classic Hits 100.7 The River (WRVA-FM). Beyond radio, she worked in Wilmington, NC, at WWAY-TV and AAA "The Penguin" WUIN, and became known for hosting specialty Jazz and Blues programs throughout her career.

In a tribute posted today, WBBB said, "Today we say farewell to a true Triangle radio legend, Kitty Kinnin, as she turns off the mic and heads into a well-earned retirement after 40 incredible years on the air. Kitty's voice, warmth, and wit have been part of the soundtrack of this community for decades. She's shared your workday, your drives, your laughs, and your stories, and she's done it all with heart, soul, and a whole lot of style. From everyone at 96.1 BBB, thank you, Kitty, for the music, the memories, and the magic."
