Mike Shannon to Celebrate 40 Years in Broadcasting

Congratulations to Mike Shannon, co-host of the Shannon And Deb morning program, as he marks 40 years in broadcasting on Wednesday August 8. For the past 16 years, he and his wife and co-host Deb have been waking up Lawrence County. The past 4 years the show has aired on WBED-FM (Stars993). Shannon who started working in Jackson, MI, at WKHM-AM in 1978, joked "he would retire at the 40 year mark."

Now that it is on the horizon, Shannon said, "he plans to maybe make it to 60 years before retirement, the good Lord willing."

After over 10,700 shows, Shannon has made many friends via his listeners. WBED-LP has been voted the #1 radio station four years in a row in the Bedford Indiana Times Mail Reader Choice Awards.
